Cast video to a Sony Bravia TV from PC

How does it connect to your Sony Bravia?

What to expect on a Sony Bravia
- How it plays: Bravia sets that run Google TV or Android TV are reached over Google Cast, which is built into the set, so there is nothing to install.
- Plays directly: depends on the model. For the Chromecast and Google TV models in AIX Player’s device catalogue: H.264, HEVC, VP8, VP9 and AV1 video, up to 2160p (4K) at 60 frames per second.
- HDR formats: HDR10, HDR10+, HLG and DV HDR for those catalogue models; on your Bravia, the formats it supports.
- HDR casting uses AIX Pro or the casting trial: HDR stays HDR on a compatible direct-play route; converted video is SDR.
- Sound: a file the TV plays directly keeps its own soundtrack; every stream AIX Player converts carries AAC sound.
- Subtitles: the subtitle you choose in AIX Player shows on the TV.

How do I cast it? Three steps

Open the video and set it up how you want it
Open it from your PC’s drive or a USB or SD drive, then pick the audio track and choose the subtitle. The soundtrack and subtitle you choose are the ones the TV gets.

Press cast and choose your Sony Bravia

Will my subtitles show on the TV?
AIX delivers supported subtitles from the PC along with the cast video.
AIX Player takes care of it. Choose a subtitle in the player, a track inside the video or a separate file you added, and that subtitle shows on the Bravia. Some subtitle changes work during playback; tracks that need to be drawn into the video can require a new cast. The subtitles when casting guide has the details.
What if my TV refuses the file?
Where a Bravia cannot read part of a supported file, AIX Player converts that part while the video streams. Supported Intel, AMD and NVIDIA graphics hardware can accelerate video conversion; on Qualcomm, only H.264 encoding is hardware-assisted, and other stages use the processor.

Can I cast video from PC to a Sony Bravia?
Yes, natively. AIX Player connects over the protocol the television already supports and lets it decode the film — no extra hardware in between.
My Bravia shows a model number, not a name
Look for the advertised device name, whether it is a room name or model number. If it was never renamed, the model number is what shows in the cast list.
Does casting work with Sony Google TV models?
For a compatible Bravia offering Google Cast, AIX prefers that route when detected; you can select another available route.
How do I stop 4K stuttering on my Bravia?
Wire the television if the port is there. An Ethernet cable is an effective troubleshooting step for stuttering on large 4K files because it removes Wi-Fi from the path.
