Cast video to Fire TV from a Windows PC
Fire TV sticks, cubes and built-in Fire TV sets can receive supported video from your PC, up to the quality the source and device support, without a receiver app installed on the stick.
Supported videos from your PC can be cast to Fire TV, up to 4K HDR where the source, PC, network and TV support it, with selected subtitles rendered on screen. AIX Player converts unsupported parts while streaming when needed.
Which files can I cast?
Fire TV sticks are built for streaming apps rather than your own files, so their own format support is narrow. It does not constrain you here: AIX Player decodes on the PC, so MKV, MP4, MOV, AVI, WMV, TS, M2TS and WebM all cast alike.
How does it connect to your Fire TV?
AIX Player pairs with Fire TV directly rather than mirroring your screen, so the television decodes the film itself and the picture stays sharp. The device shows up in the cast list by its own name as soon as it is awake.
How do I cast it? Three steps

Press cast and choose your Fire TV
AIX Player scans the network and lists what it finds by name. When more than one device could take the film, it marks the one it ranks highest for that television.

Sit down — your PC is the remote
Play, pause, seek, change volume, switch subtitle or audio track and disconnect, all from the AIX Player window. Nothing is mirrored, so you can carry on using the PC.
Devices appear on their own. The first connection to a Fire TV shows a PIN on the television — type it once and AIX Player remembers it.
Will my subtitles show on the TV?
Fire TV has no way to reach a subtitle file living on your PC. That is why casting from other apps so often arrives with the picture and no words underneath it.
AIX Player writes the subtitles into the picture itself before sending it, so a Fire TV Stick shows them without ever knowing what a subtitle file is.
What if my TV refuses the file?
Fire TV devices support a limited set of media formats, so AIX Player converts unsupported parts while the video streams. Supported Intel, AMD and NVIDIA graphics hardware can accelerate video conversion; on Qualcomm, only H.264 encoding is hardware-assisted, and other stages use the processor.

Why can I not find my Fire TV Stick?
It has probably dropped into deep sleep. A sleeping stick stops answering network scans. Press a button on its remote to wake it, then reopen the cast list in AIX Player.
Is a Fire TV Stick fast enough for 4K?
The 4K models are, over a strong signal. Sticks are Wi-Fi only, so signal strength at the television matters — a stick tucked behind a metal TV frame often struggles where the same stick on a short extension does not.
Do I need to install an app on the Fire TV?
No. AIX Player pairs with it directly. There is nothing to add from the Amazon store and nothing to sign into on the stick. The first connection shows a short PIN on the television that you type once in AIX Player; after that the stick is remembered.
Why is there picture but no sound on my Fire TV?
It rejected the audio track. Usually a studio surround mix from a disc rip. AIX Player converts it as it streams, and switching to a stereo track in the film may also resolve it.
