How does it connect to your LG TV?
AIX Player speaks to webOS sets over the protocol LG builds into them, so the television decodes the film itself. The set appears in the cast list under the name you gave it, and stays remembered for next time.
What to expect on an LG TV

- Plays directly: H.264, HEVC, MPEG-2, VP8, VP9 and AV1 video, up to 2160p (4K) at 60 frames per second on the models that support it.

- HDR casting uses AIX Pro or the casting trial: HDR stays HDR on a compatible direct-play route; converted video is SDR.

- Casting allowance: the free app includes 60 casting minutes in total, once, not per session; AIX Pro makes casting unlimited.

How do I cast it? Three steps
Jellyfin, Emby and Plex videos play on your PC; casting media-server videos is not supported. Network shares can be browsed freely; SDR playback is unlimited, while HDR uses its trial or AIX Pro. These casting steps are for supported local files. Read about media servers.

Open the video and set it up how you want it
Open it from your PC’s drive or a USB or SD drive, then pick the audio track and choose the subtitle. The soundtrack and subtitle you choose are the ones the TV gets.

Press cast and choose your LG TV
AIX Player scans the network and lists what it finds by name. When one television offers several supported protocols, AIX ranks the available routes; Google Cast has priority when detected.

Sit down — your PC is the remote
Use the playback controls available for the selected TV and route; some audio or subtitle changes require a new cast. Nothing is mirrored, so you can carry on using the PC.

Will my subtitles show on the TV?
A subtitle file on your PC is invisible to an LG set, and the subtitle types built into webOS do not cover everything you are likely to have downloaded.
AIX Player takes care of it. Choose a subtitle in the player, a track inside the video or a separate file you added, and that subtitle shows on the LG TV. What if my TV refuses the file?
AIX chooses direct playback or conversion for the file and LG route; preparation time varies.

Can I cast from PC to an LG TV without a Chromecast?
Yes — no dongle needed. AIX Player pairs directly with LG webOS sets using what is already inside the television. Nothing to plug into the back of it and nothing to buy. The first connection puts a prompt on the TV asking you to allow AIX Player — accept it once with the remote and the set is remembered.
Why is my LG TV not showing up?
Check the network and that the set is on standby. Both devices must be on the same network — guest-network isolation can prevent discovery. A television switched off at the wall cannot answer a scan.
Does 4K HDR reach an LG OLED properly?
Yes, where the set supports it. HDR stays HDR when the TV can play the file directly; otherwise the picture is converted to SDR for the TV.
Is wired better than Wi-Fi for my LG TV?
Try Ethernet if your model supports it and Wi-Fi seems to be the bottleneck; results depend on the ports, network and file.
Can I control playback from my PC while it plays on the LG TV?
Yes — your PC is the remote. Use the available AIX playback controls; subtitle switching depends on the active route and track.
