Free allowances, then AIX Pro

Four features include a free allowance. Each allowance is used once, not per session, and AIX Pro removes the limit.

HDR playback
180 playing minutes once per install for HDR from local files and network shares, including tone-mapped playback on an ordinary display. Unlimited with AIX Pro.
Casting to a TV
60 casting minutes in total, once. Unlimited with AIX Pro.
Media-server playback on your PC
180 media-server minutes in total, once. Unlimited with AIX Pro.
Offline downloads
10 in the free app. Unlimited with AIX Pro.

What counts as HDR

A video counts as HDR when its picture uses the PQ transfer (HDR10 and HDR10+), HLG, or Dolby Vision. A high bit depth or a wide colour gamut on its own is not HDR, so 10-bit SDR and 4K SDR video stay free.

When the HDR allowance ends

The video pauses and offers AIX Pro. After the trial, each HDR video plays for 150 seconds before pausing. Paused time and seeking do not use trial minutes. SDR video, including 4K and 10-bit, stays free without a time limit, and your library and saved connections stay in place.

Which allowance a video uses

HDR from a media server counts only against the media-server minutes. Casting uses the casting minutes, not the HDR minutes. Playing from a network share uses neither the media-server nor the casting allowance. Jellyfin, Emby and Plex videos play on your PC; casting a media-server video is not supported in this version.

What AIX Pro adds

  • Unlimited HDR playback, casting and media-server playback, and unlimited offline downloads.
  • Picture: saturation, gamma, hue, sharpness, HDR tone-mapping strength, and the video modes (Standard, Cinema, Lively, Bright room, Dark room, Animation, Outdoor sports, Video games and Custom). Brightness and contrast stay free.
  • Sound: Auto volume, which levels loudness, with Standard, Dynamic, Night and On modes, and dialogue boost.
  • Advanced tools: a second subtitle track on the PC, external audio tracks, and frame-accurate precise seek.
