Build playlists that play straight through

For a series, an evening, or a set of clips that belong together — queue it once and stop touching the machine.

Making one

Create a playlist and add files from anywhere in your library, or add a whole folder at once. Reorder by dragging until the sequence is what you want, then play it straight through without interruption.

Keeping them recognisable

Each playlist shows a cover collage from the films inside it and a count of items, so a shelf of playlists stays readable at a glance rather than becoming a list of names.

Playing and casting them

Play all runs the queue in order, and repeat and shuffle change how it behaves. A playlist casts to the television the same way a single film does.

Adding a whole folder at once

For a series, this is the quickest route: add the folder rather than the individual episodes and the order comes across as it sits on disk. Multi-select does the same for files scattered across different folders — pick them all in the library and add them in one action instead of repeating yourself.

Reordering, and why it matters for a series

Files rarely sort into the order you want on their own, particularly where episode numbering is inconsistent. Dragging items into place fixes it once, and the playlist keeps that order permanently — so an evening runs in sequence rather than alphabetically.

Playlists cast too

A playlist sends to a television exactly as a single film does, and plays straight through. Combined with repeat and shuffle, that covers most of what people want an evening’s viewing to do without touching the PC again once it has started.
